London Olympics; Chelmsford Calling!

Work is now well-underway for my latest and most exciting project to date; a video sequence to be shown during the Olympic Torch Relay.

The piece will form part of “Chelmsford Calling”, a spectacular original performance devised by theatre company Pinpoint Create.  It will be scheduled alongside the finale to “Sparks Will Fly” by Walk the Plank supported by Arts Council England.

Sparks will Fly…begins with the arrival of two Champions who travel around Essex during May and June, before they meet for the first time to play The Game, pitting their strength against each other as they conjure up wind, water and fire in a spectacular fiery showdown, at Hylands Park, Chelmsford on 6 July 2012, following the arrival of the Olympic Torch.  The event has already sold over 15,000 advance tickets!

“Chelmsford Calling” is the product of an exciting collaboration, including content by renowned artists such as choreographer Tony Parrie, writer Tony Michaels, composer David Stanley and storyteller Mike Dodsworth.  The show will include a number of sportspeople, free-runners, BMX riders, cheerleaders and Basketball players plus a very special celebrity performance!

Paul Carpenter Films has been comissioned to produce a dynamic 30-second film including footage of some of Britain’s most promising young athletes.  It will be broadcast during the performance finale and again during Sparks Will Fly.

With storyboards complete, advanced SFX tests are currently in progress and choreography will follow before a late-may shoot.  I have very adventurous (ambitious) plans, but it’s all very exciting!
