Benefits of a Freelancer
Hiring the right freelancer for your project can offer efficiencies and cost-savings compared to self-producing or employing in-house teams or external media agencies. Streamlined and targeted to your unique requirements and budget, freelance services can supercharge your marketing, allowing you to retain as much or as little input as you would like throughout the process.

Background
A freelance filmmaker, videographer, producer, editor and multimedia designer, I have led hundreds of creative short-form and long-form production projects for major charities, corporations, small businesses, and commercial and broadcast clients. I launched my business, Paul Carpenter Film and Media (formerly Alchemy Productions) in 2002 and my portfolio includes a broad range of production work including documentary, videography, photography, graphic design, WordPress web development, sound production, creative writing and copywriting.
Skills and Clients:
I am an Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) specialist with advanced skills in Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Audition and other apps. I own and operate a broad range of 4k / HD Canon professional equipment including multiple EOS Cinema cameras, Dedolight 4-point lighting kit, a gimbal, a drone, and professional sound recording equipment.
My previous clients include ITV, DesignScene London; Royal Opera House; Endemol Shine / Coca-Cola; London 2012 Olympics; National Geographic; Community Channel; London Sport/UK Sport; Thurrock Council, Total Jobs Group, The Music Man Project UK, Greater Essex Careers Hub, Creative Estuary and many more. I have also led multi-camera live and DVD shoots at the London Palladium, Barbican Concert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Palace Theatre, Old Trafford and Leeds Royal Armouries. I am a current member of Thurrock's Next Top Boss strategy board.
Experience:
I have extensive production experience within specialist environments including vintage and civil aviation, disability and special educational needs (SEND) organisations. I have also delivered education production workshops for schools and colleges, including SEND students in secondary education. I became a freelance producer in 2003 following a ten-year career as a Senior Advertising Executive in the newspaper and magazine publishing industry. I also worked as a sports photographer and newspaper marketing and circulation executive.
I became Ground Crew and Pilots' Assistant for several leading wing-walk, aerobatics and vintage aircraft operators. Over 5 years, I was responsible for the safety of VIP and public guests taking part in extreme sport aviation experiences in London, Essex, Kent, Lincolnshire and Dorset.
In addition to visual storytelling, cameras and image acquisition, my general interests include fiction writing, engineering and guitars. I have a lifelong passion for aviation and custom-designed and built a fully functioning Cessna 172 flight simulator cockpit.
Start Your Project: Three Simple Steps
1 Great production work begins with strong concepts. We'll begin by discussing your ideas and requirements and getting to know each other a little better. This is the time think about your target audience; the specific people you would like to see appreciating your work, what you want to say to them and how much time and money you are able to commit.
2 With a brief in place we will work together to develop ideas achievable within the scope of your chosen budget. Premium quality short-form projects don't have to cost much. Complex and long-form work costs more. It's your choice, and you remain in control. Whether your business is a local start-up or a global brand, budget needn't be an obstacle.
3 You will receive a free itemised quote presenting mandatory costs and optional costs. Select your preferred options, finalise your brief, and place your booking. Filming work can be planned around your company's busy schedule. With work underway you can step back or collaborate as much or as little as you choose.
